Title: The Sacred Enneagram Pdf Finding Your Unique Path to Spiritual Growth
A must-read for anyone looking to move beyond type as caricature and learn how to work with the Enneagram toward spiritual growth. Over 100,000 copies sold!
Most of us spend a lifetime trying to figure out who we are, and how we relate to others and God. The Enneagram is here to help. Far more than a personality test, author Chris Heuertz writes, the Enneagram is a sacred map to the soul. Lies about who we think we are keep us trapped in loops of self-defeat. But the Enneagram reveals both the nine ways we get lost, as well as the nine ways we find our way home to our True Self and to God.
Chris Heuertz has taught the Enneagram all over the world, and has trained under some of the great living Enneagram masters including Father Richard Rohr, Russ Hudson, Marion Gilbert, and Helen Palmer. Whether you are an enthusiast or simply Enneagram-curious, this groundbreaking guide to the spiritual depth of the Enneagram will help you:
- Understand the 'why' behind your type, beyond caricatures and stereotypes
- Identify and find freedom from self-destructive patterns
- Learn how to work with your type toward spiritual growth
- Awaken your unique gifts to serve today’s broken world
Richly insightful and deeply practical, The Sacred Enneagram is your invitation to begin the journey of a life transformed.
After 6 other Enneagram titles, this is the BEST one by far! I am fascinated by Enneagram and diving deeper into its gifts has enriched my life and marriage in so many ways. I have read six other books before this one (all of which had strengths and weaknesses) but this one was BY FAR the best. I know that in some circles Enneagram has become a bit of a party trick these days, but if you're ready to move beyond the simplistic typologies and "number-shaming" conversations and into a deeper, more alarming inner journey, buy this book. Much of what has been put out there in the last few years is just trite and spends way too much time on silly external behaviors without getting to the WHY behind what truly motivates and drives our lives. Chris is breaking new ground in many of these pages. REPEAT! There is new information in this book that you won't get elsewhere. I am shocked how he was able to pack SO MUCH into such a short book. The book itself is made well and the pages feel great in your hands. These small details matter to me. Also the images and tables he includes are incredibly helpful. The extra material in the back of the book is great - especially for those very common mis-typings that I see constantly. So grateful for Chris and his hard work to bring this effort to us all. This is a self help book not a "sacred" spiritual growth text in Christian context I am sorry but I think this was my mistake. I saw the word "sacred" and thought, based on the publisher and other reviews this book would be useful in my Spiritual growth as a Christian. I gave it one star because you cannot give out none. I considered the topic to be more self-help psychology than spirituality. As I discovered the true nature of the book I continued reading in hopes I would find it supported by true faith. All I found was babble about finding my "True Self" (whatever that is). The author has a history of life as a Christian and after reading the entire book I can conclude without a shadow of a doubt he is a typical North American Christian. This means the vague language of Christianity is present without an authentic discernable presence of Jesus. This is not to imply the author is not a true Christian - that is between him and God. What is clear from his work is that his perspective is to make our understanding of our lives in this world more complete and satisfying. There certainly is no basis in the text for an understanding of salvation by faith in Jesus. In fact the quotes from the Crystal Cathedral, Eckhart Tolle and Elbert Hubbard would make me suspicious that either faith is lacking or misplaced. The author early on states that the Enneagram work is not New Age but then shares the origins in questionable religions. The quest outlined in the book is definitely one of a path toward good works as opposed to belief in Christ having done the work. At one point the story of Moses not getting to enter the promised land because of his work in striking the rock when told to speak to it came to mind. I hope the author has saving faith and was just too enmeshed in his topic to digress into faith. There were references to the Bible but not to share the Gospel but to bolster the theme of self help. Many of them had overtones reminiscent of Eve adding to God's commandment in the Garden which miss quotes God. I also only noted references to a God of love who accepts us without any mention of the need to deal with our sin. Yes God loves us but His righteousness requires us to come to Him on His terms and not our own worth. Another disturbing spiritual reference was in just calling Satan a liar at the temptation of Jesus and not the father of lies and accuser of the brethren. For what it does the book is a scholarly and through discussion of a complex subject. I guess I feel the "Unique Path to Spiritual Growth" needs to have a foundation in the person and work of Christ and not our individual work.Mr. Heuertz has spent his life doing good and I sincerely hope he has been born again and I will see him in heaven.
